Scoring Procedures (Regionals)

Judging Panel

BravO!’s judges are a combination of championship caliber competition studio directors, teachers affiliated with major dance studios or professional dance centers, and currently performing dance professionals. First and foremost, these judges are all well trained in multiple genres of dance and are sensitive to the various skill levels represented by the dancers’ differing ages and levels. This mixture of age, breadth of dance experience, and extensive background in performing arts contribute to the diverse range of feedback our judges will offer all competitors. Every effort is made to provide feedback in five main areas: Technique, Choreography, Age/Skill Level, Appropriateness, and Performance Skills. By attending a BravO! competition, all entrants agree that the time, manner, and method of judging the contest shall be solely within the discretion of the Directors and Producers of BravO National Dance & Talent Competition. All decisions of the judges are final.

Scoring Procedures & Adjudication

Judges will score each routine as it happens. Numerical scores will be backed up with each judge’s feedback/critique.

Each judge awards up to 100 points based on the following criteria:

  • Technique: 40 percent
  • Performance: 30 percent
  • Musicality/Timing: 20 percent
  • Choreography: 10 percent

The total number of available points to be scored per routine is 300.

Platinum, Elite High Gold, High Gold, Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards will be given out during each competition. This adjudication is assigned by the overall score a routine receives based on the following point system:

  • PLATINUM: 300-285
  • ELITE HIGH GOLD: 284.9-270
  • HIGH GOLD: 269.9-255
  • GOLD: 254.9-240
